Why join?

Members benefit from:

  • Access to the clubrooms (located just 3 miles north of Liverpool city centre, not far from the ‘Mons’ pub near Breeze Hill/Queen’s Drive flyover)
  • Ability to run DC or DCC locos and stock (yours or others) on several layouts
  • Opportunity to build and exhibit layouts at shows
  • A friendly bunch of folks, happy to have a cuppa and a chat, as well as pass on their modelling knowledge, experience, hints & tips
  • Quarterly magazine (‘Call Attention’)
  • Information, announcements & discussions about club activities etc. on a private e-mail distribution group
  • Monthly ‘Zoom’ meeting (particularly useful for more distant members)

Method of Payment & Subscription Rates

In view of the high charges for handling cash and cheques being paid into non-domestic accounts, as well as the lack of bank branches (and even post offices) near our treasurer, subscriptions should be paid by monthly standing order (1st of each month to cover that month) directly into the club’s bank account. Membership will thus be on a continuously rolling basis. Annual subscription (with a specific start and end date) has, in effect, been abolished, other than for accounting and administration purposes. (Bank details etc. can be found on the application form for new members – see below.)

Reduced rate subscriptions are available to those who live beyond (approx.) 20 mile radius bounded by the Ribble and the Mersey (determined by specified postcode districts, as listed on the membership application form, below). Reduced rate subs are also available to those within the catchment area but who are not in receipt of income from a wage/salary in excess of 16 hours/week, nor self-employed, nor in receipt of a pension.

Members subscribing less than the minimum ‘full-rate’ standing order are encouraged to contribute (into the donations plate) an additional sum at least equal to the minumum monthly ‘reduced rate’ sub when they do visit the clubroom and this will cover any visits they might make during that week. (Thus, a ‘reduced rate’ member who visits every week can provide contributions similar to those of a ‘full rate’ member, reflecting their increased beneficial access to the clubroom compared with those who are only able to visit infrequently.)

All members are encouraged to include a supplementary donation with their subscription, raising the monthly standing order amount above the basic minimum, wherever possible. Members classed as ‘full rate’ will need to provide a standing order of at least £10/month while those classed as ‘reduced rate’ will need to provide a standing order of at least £2/month.

Safeguarding Policy:

Children (<16) and vulnerable adults can attend free of charge as the guest of an appropriate parent / guardian / carer member who must retain full responsibility for them and must remain in their presence at club events and in the clubroom.

16-17-year-olds can join as a member but we will require an additional signature from their parent / guardian / carer.
